Three Hundred and Sixty-Five Days (Exhibition)

A year-long daily poster project from April 1st 2022 - April 1st 2023, the project consisted of 365 designs posted daily to the Another Dept. Instagram account.

What began as a daily creative exercise led to the creation and development of Another Department®

The project was about commitment. Commitment, repetition and endurance. Not all pieces were successes, and not all pieces are failures. Upon reflection, many artworks shown here would not be included within the portfolio, but I believe it important to show the project in its entirety, warts and all.

It taught a lot in terms of composition, colour balance, typography, and digital technique. Most importantly, it taught how to identify and nourish a good idea. A good idea can come in the form of a word, a colour, an image - it can be how just 2 colours are balanced on a page, the way an image can relate or contrast with certain words, or the relationship between sharp and soft forms. It is about being able to visualise and see the potential within something not yet formed, and having the ability to bring it to life through technique.

“The 365 was very much a creative “stress-test”. Stretching, pulling (and most likely abusing)  my creative muscles to see how much they could handle. At the end of the project I was functioning as a well-oiled machine, a design factory that could be fed information, process an idea and spit out a design without much maintenance or thought. But it was abundantly clear, as i stumbled across the finish line, that I was, BURNT OUT.”

The project was exhibited through Jan-Feb 2024 at One Grand Gallery, in Portland USA. The exhibition featured all 365 artworks printed and displayed in a single space - a way of physically encapsulating and representing a year’s worth of work.
